The Real Problem

Most Claims Aren't Denied Because of the Facts. They're Denied Because of the Paperwork.

The VA doesn't rate what happened to you - it rates what's documented, in the VA's own format. That's the gap medical evidence closes.

Which Situation Sounds Like Yours?

Most veterans and surviving spouses fall into one of five situations. Find yours below.

01 · Increase

Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ)

An existing service-connected condition has gotten worse. A DBQ documents its current severity, symptoms, and functional impact.

02 · Secondary Condition

Nexus Letter + DBQ

A condition may be connected to, or made worse by, an existing service- connected disability. A Nexus Letter addresses that medical relationship.

03 · Denied Claim

Medical Evidence Review + Attorney Referral

Your claim was denied. We review what you have and, when appropriate, connect you with an accredited VA attorney partner.

04 · Surviving Spouse

DIC Claim Filing - $1,500 Filing Fee

You're a surviving spouse pursuing Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC). We help gather and prepare the documentation your claim needs.

05 · Discharge Status

Discharge Upgrade - $1,500 Filing Fee

Your discharge status may be limiting access to benefits. We help prepare and file your petition for a discharge upgrade.

Understanding the Documents

Two Kinds of Medical Evidence

Medical Evidence

Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ)

Documents your diagnosis, current symptoms, severity, and functional impairment in the exact format the VA uses to evaluate a claim. Most relevant when an existing service- connected condition has gotten worse.

Mental Health

Migraines, Back & Neck, Knees & Shoulders

Sleep Apnea, GERD, IBS, Radiculopathy & more

Medical Evidence

Independent Nexus Letter

An independent medical opinion addressing the relationship between a claimed condition and your service, or an existing service-connected disability. The physician reaches this opinion using independent clinical judgment.

Secondary Service Connection

Direct Service Connection & Aggravation Claims

Frequently paired with a corresponding DBQ

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a DBQ and a Nexus Letter?

A DBQ documents severity and symptoms for a condition. A Nexus Letter addresses the medical relationship between conditions. Many secondary-condition claims need both — your intake helps us figure out which applies to you.

Does the intake cost anything?

No. The intake and initial consultation are free. You'll only pay if you decide to move forward with medical evidence services.

Do you take any of my VA backpay?

No. We charge flat, upfront pricing. We never take a percentage of your compensation or backpay.

Do you need access to my VA.gov account?

No. Standard medical evidence services do not require your VA.gov or ID.me login.

Can you guarantee my claim will be approved?

No. Physicians exercise independent medical judgment, and the VA ultimately determines service connection, ratings, and entitlement to benefits.

What if my claim was already denied?

We'll review your situation and, when appropriate, connect you with an accredited VA attorney partner for a Supplemental Claim, Higher-Level Review, or Board Appeal.

I'm a surviving spouse - can you help with a DIC claim?

Yes. We help surviving spouses prepare and file Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) claims for a flat $1,500 filing fee.

Can you help me upgrade my discharge status?

Yes. If your discharge characterization is limiting your access to VA benefits, we help prepare and file a discharge upgrade petition for a flat $1,500 filing fee.
